30 Days of Thanks: Day 8 - Thankful for good health

God reminded me this morning to be grateful for good health.  The temperatures are all over the place in Texas right now, high today is 79 and then high on Wednesday is 55, so a lot of people are starting to get sick as their bodies try to adjust to the changing weather.

I am so thankful that I rarely get sick.  Thankful not to have severe allergies.  Thankful that my body does what it needs to and that I don't need to depend on any medication.  I am thankful that I healthy and able to exercise.  I LOVE to run...it is my favorite way to unwind.

I have not been as consistent about exercising since the miscarriage and just finally got back into the mood to make exercising a priority.  When I was 26, I set a goal to try and run the  memorial loop in 25 minutes or under.  The memorial loop is 2.9 miles and my favorite place to run.  I don't get there as much anymore because of traffic, but when we lived in the townhome, it was only a mile away so I would run there 2-3 times per week at least.  In order to finish in under 25 minutes, I would have to run an average of 8.62 minutes per mile.  That is so fast for me, I am not even sure it is possible.  The closest I have gotten was 27 minutes and 26 seconds.

Well, now, 3 years later, I am out of shape and super far from 27 minutes even, but I think it is time to set the goal again.  So here it, my goal to get to 25 minutes per mile by my 31st birthday.

I am going to try and run at memorial one day a week to test my times.....I ran yesterday and with about a half mile of walking, my time was 35 minutes....so i have 10 minutes to cut off my time.  :/  YIKES outloud that sounds like a lot.  I will save my times on Runkeeper, so feel free to check in on me! :)

MINI GOALS

  • By end of November, Run at least two times a memorial with a time under 31 minutes.
  • By end of December, finish in 29 minutes or less. (Jenn -- can you jump in a December run with me?? You could start training in LA :) )
  • By end of January, finish in 27 minutes.
  • By end of February, 26 minutes.
