I heart Houston....

We have been very fortunate lately to have abnormally warm, beautiful weather for Houston in January. Normally January is a very ugly, rainy month. Alex and I have also been fortunate to have little to no plans since the new year started. This has been great because we are trying to save money (i.e. no plans = no spending) and are trying to eat healthy (no plans = no eating out) and workout regularly (no plans = time to work out and no excuses NOT to). This has allowed us to enjoy this wonderful state that we live in.

My absolute favorite thing to do, is to go running when I don't have a time restraint. I can just enjoy the run without thinking about where I have to run off to when I am finished running. Well last weekend I had the opportunity to run twice. There are 4 loops right now that I love to run in Houston, but I am always open for new ones.

1. 3 mile loop at memorial
2. 5 mile loop around the bayou (allen parkway and memorial dr.) -- thanks Linds for introducing me to this one
3. 2.8 mile Rice Loop
4. Running in and around Hermann Park and Hermann GOlf Course

All 4 allow you to really see the beauty that is in Houston. Granted we don't have mountains or beautiful lakes, no we have highways and the brown bayou, but I love it and these four loops are surrounded by trees and nature and Houstons best. Memorial loop is great because it is only 1 mile from our house, so I frequent it often. The bayou loop is fun because you can see downtown teh whole way, go through a couple parks, go by Discovery Green etc. Rice loop is around Rice University which is nice as well. Hermann loop takes you by Reflection Pond, Japanese Tea Garden, Museum District and Hermann Golf Course and the zoo. Very fun.

Anyways, today I went to memorial city mall and sat outside during lunch. It is one of those perfect days, where the sun is warm on your back, but there is a cool breeze. It was WONDERFUL and I feel so refreshed. Thank you Jesus for beautiful weather. I know many of can think of TONS of cities that have more to offer than Houston, which is true, most cities have much more, but I live here and I am loving Houston today!!

What is something that you LOVE?

I love houston because I love all of my family/friends who live there!

I love running there with you too. I love the feeling of being at the park with all those young ppl who want to be healthy too.

(sometimes) I like the rush of driving down the freeway (when theres no traffic).

I loved looking at the skyline the night of your wedding!

... those were just off the top of my head.

I love the view of Downtown when you're walking from Allen Parkway/Waugh Drive into town. Very beautiful. :) I love the view of downtown Houston at night. And I love the view of Downtown Houston when you're driving in from Highway 288. And I agree...Houston is awesome. It's home. It's ours. And it's wonderful. :)
